In advance of the Hokkaido Toyako Summit, Hokuren and the Hokkaido Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations completed a leaflet called the Hokkaido Map of Food from Land and Sea on June 13 to introduce the prefecture's agricultural and marine products. Distribution of the free leaflets will start at the Integrated Exhibition of the Environment to be held between June 19 and 21 at the Sapporo Dome. During the Summit, the guide will be handed out to officials of national and overseas governments as well as press members.

The leaflet divides Hokkaido into six areas including Tokachi and Southern Hokkaido, and introduces prefectural specialties such as sea urchin and potatoes along with advice on their best seasons. Information is included on Hokkaido items that hold domestic records such as the highest output and cultivated acreage of pumpkins and the production of soba noodles.

The folding map measures 38 cm in length and 72 cm in width when opened, and the print run includes 22,000 Japanese versions and 8,000 English versions. The leaflets will also be available at New Chitose Airport from June 21. For more information, call Hokuren's Agricultural Consulting Section on 011-232-6105.
