Four thousand cherry trees to be planted (May 9, 2008)

RUSUTSU - The Rusutsu Resort, which will host the International Media Center during the Hokkaido Toyako Summit, is currently recruiting volunteers to help plant 4,000 sargent cherry tree seedlings on its premises in Shiribeshi Subprefecture's Rusutsu Village.

The tree planting will take place at the resort's golf courses over nine sessions on Saturdays and Sundays in June from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Advance reservations are required, but anybody can participate in the sessions free of charge. The volunteers, whose names will be announced on the resort's website, will receive update photos and letters on the progress of the cherry trees at least once a year for six years after planting.
